Rule Overview

Tense BE Form Main Verb Example
Present Simple am / is / are + V3 / -ed The tea is made.
Past Simple was / were The tea was made.

* V3 = Past Participle (e.g., eaten, seen, written).
* Use by to say who did the action (e.g., by my sister).

1. Active or Passive?

Read the sentence. Choose if it is Active (subject does the action) or Passive (action happens to the subject).

2. Present Simple Passive

Choose the correct form of the verb (is / are).

3. Past Simple Passive

Fill in the gaps with was or were.

4. Mix: Present & Past

Write the full passive verb (e.g., "is made", "were cooked"). Look at the time markers.
