We use Mixed Conditionals when the condition (If-clause) and the result refer to different times.

Type 3 + 2
(Past → Present)
A past action affects the present situation. Past Perfect
had + V3
would + Infinitive
would + V1
Ex: If I had eaten breakfast (past), I wouldn't be hungry now (present).
Type 2 + 3
(Present → Past)
A permanent state (fact) affected the past. Past Simple
V2 / were
would + Perfect Inf.
would + have + V3
Ex: If I spoke French (general), I would have helped you yesterday (past).

1. Analyse the Timeline

Read the sentence. Decide if the bold part refers to the PAST or the PRESENT.

2. Match the halves

Connect the "If-clause" with the correct logical result.

3. Choose the correct form

Select the correct verb form based on the time markers (now, yesterday, etc.).

4. Fill in the gaps

Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form. Use full forms (e.g. "would not be").

5. Translate into English

Translate the sentences. Pay attention to the type of Mix!
Note: Please use full forms (e.g. "I would have", "If I were").
